FAQs

  • What types of writing do you help with?

    I support students with:

    • paragraphs

    • essays (all forms)

    • literary analysis

    • research writing

    • AP-style responses

    • creative writing

    • personal statements

    • scholarship essays

    • reading comprehension

    • note-taking structures

Instruction is customized to your child’s grade level, goals, and school requirements.

Do you help with school assignments?

Yes. Students may bring current assignments, papers, or prompts to work on during sessions. I balance teaching long-term writing skills with supporting immediate academic needs.

How much homework will my child have?

Homework varies by program. Most students receive:

    • 5–15 minutes of practice

    • short revision tasks

    • or small planning steps

The goal is always to build confidence, not overwhelm. I can also partner with you to adjust the amount of homework to fit your child’s schedule and needs. Some assignments may include completing schoolwork as part of the session, ensuring practice is purposeful and manageable.

Do you work with reluctant or anxious writers?

Absolutely. Many of my students arrive feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or frustrated.
My approach is warm, structured, and strengths-based. We build confidence one step at a time.

    Do you help neurodivergent students?

Although I do not offer special education or therapeutic services, I work with many neurodivergent students and tailor coaching to their individual strengths, challenges, and learning styles.

  • What executive functioning skills do you teach?

    Common focus areas include:

    • planning assignments

    • prioritizing tasks

    • breaking writing into steps

    • building routines

    • organizing materials

    • creating study systems

    • developing self-advocacy

We integrate EF naturally through writing — not as a separate “class.”

Do you help with time management?

Yes. We create personalized systems that match your child’s learning style.

Do you work with homeschool families?

Yes! Homeschoolers often benefit from structure, accountability, and a dedicated writing mentor.

Daytime sessions are available upon request.

  • How do sessions work?

    Each session includes:

    • live Zoom instruction

    • real-time modeling or editing

    • Google Docs collaboration

    • templates, planners, and organizers

    • progress tracking via a Master Document

Students leave each session knowing exactly what they accomplished and what comes next.

What materials does my child need?

    Just:

    • a device with Zoom

    • headphones (recommended)

    • access to their Google Drive folder

    • any school prompts or assignments

All templates and organizers are provided.

Can parents sit in on sessions?

Parents are welcome for the first 5 minutes of the first session. After that, students typically perform best with 1:1 attention.

Parents receive weekly updates summarizing progress.

What if my child misses a session?

Rescheduling is based on availability. Full rescheduling and cancellation details are on the How it Works page.

Is one 8-week track all my student needs?

Most families begin with one 8-week cycle, but coaching is not a one-time program. It’s an ongoing mentoring relationship that evolves with your student’s goals. The 8-week structure simply provides a flexible, manageable framework for focused growth. At the start of each new cycle, we do a short check-in to reassess goals and ensure the next phase of coaching meets your student’s current needs. Students may continue for as long as they benefit from support.

    Do you offer group sessions?

Yes. I offer limited small-group options for students who benefit from learning alongside peers. Group availability and pricing vary depending on the number of students and the type of support needed. Please contact me directly to discuss group rates and current openings.

  • What platforms do you use?

    • Zoom for live sessions

    • Google Docs for writing and revision

    • Google Drive for organization (I create this for you)

No setup required — I handle everything.

    Do you provide reminders?

I send a session confirmation in your onboarding email. Families are encouraged to use their preferred calendar system for reminders.

What if we have a tech issue?

If a technical issue occurs, I will attempt to reconnect for up to 15 minutes.
If the issue persists, we will either continue with the remaining time or determine next steps as outlined in the Service Agreement.

  • Do you teach students how to use AI?

Yes — ethically and with intention.
Students learn how to think first and use AI only as a tool, not a replacement for their ideas.

    We focus on:

    • understanding AI limitations

    • ethical use for brainstorming

    • avoiding plagiarism

    • strengthening original voice

    • clarity and reasoning skills

    • school-appropriate boundaries

Do you allow students to use AI for assignments?

Students may use AI only when allowed by their school and only in specific, transparent ways we discuss together.

I teach originality, integrity, and clear thinking above all.

How do you ensure student work is original?

    We emphasize:

    • their own voice

    • real-time writing during sessions

    • transparent planning

    • clear evidence-based reasoning

My job is to help students deepen their thinking, not outsource it.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

Families can pay by ACH bank transfer (preferred), Apple Pay, or credit/debit through a secure Stripe link.

Can we pay per session instead of purchasing a package?

    No.
Programs are structured as packages to reserve your child’s recurring time slot and support consistent progress.

    Do you offer refunds?

Because each slot is reserved exclusively for your child, tuition is non-refundable once sessions begin. Full details are in the Service Agreement.

  • Do you meet in person?

All coaching is offered online to ensure flexibility, consistency, and access for all families.

    How do you track progress?

Every student has a Master Document that includes:

    • session notes

    • goals

    • drafts

    • revisions

    • progress milestones

    Parents receive a weekly summary.

Do you provide writing samples or portfolios?

    Yes — especially for:

    • portfolio programs

    • homeschool evaluations

    • competition submissions

    • scholarship applications
